Requiem Update 19: The Heretic Emerges and Enhanced Combat
We’re back with another exciting update for Requiem (1998), and this one brings major additions to both the gameplay and the enemies you'll face in the dark depths of Gravemire.
New Enemy: The Heretic
Prepare to face your toughest challenge yet—The Heretic, a formidable new enemy type acting as a mini boss. These eerie figures are clad in tattered red robes, their faces shrouded in shadows, and they wield massive, blood-stained axes. Unlike the other lurkers, The Heretics have risen through the cult’s ranks to become leaders, exuding terrifying power and commanding eldritch energies.
Here’s what to expect:
- Appearance: Tattered crimson robes, bloody hands gripping an oversized axe, and a haunting glow emanating from their form.
- Abilities: The Heretic can dodge most attacks and fly toward players, crushing them with bursts of eldritch energy or slamming their axe into their flesh.
- Difficulty: As a mini boss, The Heretic is not an enemy to be underestimated. Their relentless attacks and ability to disrupt your positioning make them a significant threat—be sure to keep moving, manage your ammo wisely, and use every tool at your disposal to survive.
Combat Update: A Melee Lifeline
Running out of ammo in the heat of battle is no longer a death sentence. With this update, we’ve added the ability to perform melee attacks while aiming with a weapon when you’re out of ammo. This quick and desperate move can create just enough breathing room to reload or reposition during tense encounters.
Here’s how it works:
- When aiming and out of ammo, pressing the melee button (right trigger/left mouse button) will deliver a close-range strike with your weapon.
- This feature bridges the gap between ammo management and survival, making combat more fluid while still maintaining the intense challenge.
With the introduction of The Heretic and this new melee feature, Requiem (1998) continues to evolve into a deeper, more thrilling experience. As always, your feedback is invaluable—let us know what you think of these changes and how they impact your time in Gravemire.
Stay vigilant, and good luck out there!
